Boards from the UK, US, Italy, Spain and Kenya joined together in Nairobi recently at the Village in Kitui. The days were filled with discussions of the successes and challenges for Nyumbani and its children. We met young adults who were taken care of by Nyumbani who have formed alumni associations, studying to be lawyers and now have their own careers and families.
The final day was filled with celebration. Mark James completed his 162 km walk from Nyumbani Village and was welcomed by the children of Nyumbani and Susie Kitchens, the British Deputy High Commissioner in Kenya.
The Summit concluded with mass and celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Nyumbani. The outpouring of support from local supporters and distinguished guests, including First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, was extraordinary and joyful. The celebrations were featured in the news that evening http://www.kbc.co.ke/local-news/lets-safeguard-protect-children-rights-first-lady/
Looking forward to next year!
